Hello everyone,

This week, we've updated several features for the IELTS section on Toey. Most of these came from your feedback, so we want to briefly explain each one.

1. Look up words directly within Listening and Reading passages Many of you mentioned having to open another tab to look up difficult words, which is time-consuming. Now, you can simply tap on a word (or long-press on an answer) and Toey will show you its meaning, example sentences, and pronunciation. You can even look up entire phrases. If you find a useful word, tap "Save," and it will be added to your vocabulary list for later review.

2. Review weak areas after each practice test After finishing a test, most of us just look at the score and close it. Now, Toey will highlight which sections and question types you struggled with the most, and the next day, it will give you practice questions specifically for those types.

3. A cleaner and more accurate Vocabulary page

• Choose your preferred review style using the settings button (gear icon).
• There are "Skip" (to review tomorrow) and "I don't know" buttons.
• Added example sentences for words, standard IPA pronunciation, and more accurate British and American English audio.

4. Fix mistakes first, then retake (Speaking and Writing) This is our favorite update. Instead of constantly doing new tests, Toey helps you focus on correcting the specific mistakes you've made: ① Correct each mistake Toey has flagged, ② Review related grammar lessons, ③ Read a better-written version, then retake the same test.

Each cycle of correcting and retaking is a loop that helps you make real progress, much faster than just doing new tests without reviewing.

We've just added two new tabs to Assistant in Writing and Speaking: My Outline and My Response.

Both start with your ideas. You write first in your own English, even if it's not perfect. The Assistant will then improve that exact response: keeping your ideas, reasons, and examples, and making them sound natural and contextually appropriate. The Assistant does not write the response for you.

Writing: My Outline

• An outline template is available, matching the essay type (e.g., for a two-viewpoint discussion: Position, View A, View B, Stance).
• Each line follows the sequence: idea → reason → result → example. Type -> for an arrow.
• The improved version places suggested phrases below each line. Click save to learn them later in My Vocabulary.

Outlining before writing helps ensure your essay is comprehensive, balanced between paragraphs, and allows for better time management during the exam.

Speaking: My Response

• Answer each question in your own words, then click "Improve."
• The highlighted section shows what has been changed; anything you said correctly remains the same.
• At the end of the response is a list of phrases to save those you couldn't naturally produce yourself.

Memorizing isn't ideal, but preparing this way helps you get used to answering comprehensively without rambling. Open a Writing or Speaking prompt, click Assistant, and give it a try.

Toey will now review the Reading/Listening passage you just completed — and show you what to fix first.

After each Reading or Listening passage, you'll see the Ask Toey button on the results page. Click it, and Toey will:

• identify the question type you got wrong most often in that passage (e.g., got 4/6 Matching Headings wrong),
• explain why you tend to get this type of question wrong,
• provide 3 technical steps to avoid making the same mistake next time — then ask again to ensure you understand.

On the Review Incorrect Answers page, Toey can also analyze across multiple passages: if a certain question type is repeatedly missed, Toey will name it and teach you how to master it.

I believe this is the fastest way to improve your Reading/Listening band score: analyzing mistakes and refining techniques is much more effective than grinding through endless practice tests with the same errors. Try it after your next passage!

I've just updated Upgrade your phrasing (correct and improve your sentences) on the Writing and Speaking feedback pages.

After each writing task, I noticed my sentences often had very basic errors: incorrect verb tenses, subject-verb agreement issues, and overly long sentences without proper punctuation. I'd nod along after reading the feedback, but the same mistakes would reappear in the next task. So, I've redone this section to help you self-correct instead of just reading:

• Identify errors before correcting. Each flagged sentence clearly states the error (e.g., Subject-Verb Agreement — singular subject but the verb isn't conjugated correctly). The example sentence remains hidden until you attempt a correction.
• For overly long sentences, the whole sentence is shown with suggestions for shortening — "This sentence contains two ideas; split it into two sentences or connect them with which / so." You decide where to make the cut. The system will then grade your sentence splitting before revealing the example sentence line by line for you to compare your cuts.
• Your rewritten sentences will be graded: Fixed / Partly / Not yet, with a note indicating any remaining errors.
• Sentences you couldn't correct will reappear in the next task, at the beginning of the Upgrade your phrasing section, until you correct them successfully.

Free accounts have 3 grading attempts per day. The remaining attempts are displayed directly below the input box. Try it out on your most recent writing task's feedback page — I'm using it myself to fix my own mistakes. Feel free to send me any suggestions.

Toey's Vocabulary and IELTS Dashboard Update:

• "Study/Review" Button Shows Correct Word Count. On each set of practice questions, collocation topics, and phrasal verb groups, the button now displays "Review 20," "Study 10," or "Completed" – matching the exact number of words in the session you're about to start.
• Each Word Has a Status. When you open a list, each word card is labeled New / Due / Learning, so you can immediately see which words will be taught in the next session and which will be reviewed.
• My Words by Practice Set. Words you save during practice are grouped by set (Cambridge 14 · Test 4 · Task 2), allowing you to review each set individually with a single tap.
• Dashboard: Skill cards now show your 30-day band trend for each skill; the "Continue" list has moved to the right column for a cleaner look.
• Writing Coach: The Structure and Language tabs now read directly from Band 9 model answers for the exact practice question you're working on.

In the Detailed Feedback section (Writing & Speaking), common grammar mistakes now have a "Practice Now" button that directly links to the lesson that corrects that specific error.

No more searching on your own – see a mistake, one tap and you're in the lesson. 💪

Hi there, I've just added two new features to the IELTS section.

Save Vocabulary Directly from Scoring

After your Writing or Speaking test is scored, click on the highlighted phrases in the sample answer to see their English and Vietnamese meanings. If you find a useful word or phrase, save it directly to your vocabulary basket. The vocabulary comes from your own test, making it easier to remember than learning from a separate word list.

New Lessons Page

Learn the skills and question types for Writing Task 1, Task 2, Speaking, Reading, and Listening. Each lesson has Toey guiding you through each section. If you don't understand something, ask in the chat box immediately before continuing, rather than just reading through materials.

Please try it out and let me know if anything is still difficult to use, and I'll make improvements.

The Lessons page has replaced the old Courses. The biggest difference: each lesson is no longer a document to read, but a real learning session with Toey.

• Toey teaches one section at a time, asks questions, and only moves on when you've answered.
• Toey knows your current band and weakest criteria, so lessons are tailored to your level — no starting from scratch.
• 119 lessons are organized by exact test format: Writing Task 2, Academic Task 1, General Task 1, Speaking, Reading, Listening.
• You can continue asking questions after finishing, and resume unfinished lessons for free.

Free version: 1 lesson per day and all foundational lessons.

We've made quite a few upgrades to the IELTS section over the past few weeks. Here are the most notable changes:

1. Ask Toey While You Practice (Writing & Speaking)

When practicing Writing or Speaking in the Mock Tests, you'll see the "Need help writing?" button right above the answer box. Click it, and Toey will open on the right side – without covering the prompt, so you can read the prompt, ask questions, and write simultaneously.

The biggest difference: Toey reads your graded work before responding. This means the advice is tailored to the specific prompt you're working on and the errors you tend to make, not just general tips. You can continue asking in Vietnamese, while the English text remains unchanged for your learning.

During timed actual tests, Toey will automatically hide – allowing you to focus on your own work.

2. Coach Reimagined

The Coach panel now opens next to your work instead of overlaying the screen, so reading model answers and writing your own no longer compete for space. We've added a Model tab: a Band 9 paragraph broken down sentence by sentence, with explanations of why each sentence scores well. The explanations are translated into Vietnamese, while sample phrases remain in English.

3. Reading & Listening: Select Answers Like on the Actual Test

Previously, many question types required you to type letters into blank boxes. Now:

• Matching / Headings: Click to select from the A–H options, no typing required.
• Matching phrases: Drag and drop phrases into the correct lines.
• Map / diagram labelling: Select from pre-set letters, and the map is now located next to the question instead of above it.
• The R/L results screen is wider, with a button to practice each question type again.

4. Minor Bug Fixes

The test card now displays the band score of your most recent attempt (not your highest score), the daily progress tracker correctly accounts for practice by section, saved vocabulary includes corrected phrases, and other minor issues have been addressed.

• By Question Type: All questions are grouped by type, covering all 4 skills (Reading, Listening, Writing Task 1/2, Speaking Part 1/2/3). Focus your drills on the types you find challenging.
• By Topic: Passages, Writing tasks, and Speaking sets are grouped by 14 topics. Practice the topics relevant to your upcoming exam.

Open Practice Tests, click By Question Type or By Topic next to the History button to start practicing immediately.

We've just upgraded the Vocabulary section to make your learning more focused 👇

1. Progress Bar for Each List Each set, Collocations topic, and Phrasal verbs group now clearly shows: 🟢 Mastered · 🔵 Learning · ⚪ Not Learned — so you know exactly where you stand.

2. "Study" Button Tap Study on any list: the system automatically adds up to 10 new words from that specific list to your bank, then opens a review session consisting only of words from that list — teaching new words and reviewing due words. No more getting lost among thousands of words.

3. Vietnamese Meanings Displayed Instantly On flashcards (Library, Sets, Collocations, Phrasal verbs) and during review sessions, Vietnamese meanings are readily available — no need to tap to see them.

A word mastered in one list will be counted as mastered in all lists containing it — because all use your shared vocabulary bank.

Now, in every Shadowing lesson, you can translate the entire video's sentences with just one tap.

• Open any Shadowing lesson → tap Translate Video at the top of the sentence list.
• Translations appear directly below each sentence, helping you quickly grasp the meaning while practicing speaking along.
• Once translated, all learners of that video can view it — toggle on/off with the Translation button.

After a whole week of hard work, I've just released the TOEIC Speaking Roadmap — the feature everyone's been asking for these past few months! 🦊

1. 34 Structured Lessons · 3 Levels

Each lesson follows 4 clear steps: Read the lecture → Do a short drill → Record your answer → AI scores based on 6 criteria.

• Beginner (12 lessons, Free) — Practice vowel/consonant sounds, stress, and reading aloud announcements for Q1-Q2.
• Intermediate (12 lessons) — Practice describing pictures for Q3-Q4, answering questions for Q5-Q7, and responding to information for Q8-Q10.
• Advanced (10 lessons) — Practice expressing opinions from 10 different angles (two-way, concession, hypothetical, specific examples, short narratives, cause-and-effect...) for Q11.

AI scoring adheres to the official ETS rubric: pronunciation, intonation, vocabulary, grammar, coherence, and task response — with automatic subtitles + specific feedback for each sentence.

2. New Drill: Listen & Repeat with AI Scoring

The "Drills" section now includes a listen_repeat format — listen to a native speaker's model sentence, record yourself mimicking it, and the AI will score your similarity in sound + speed:

• ✅ Perfect! — Pronunciation + speed are accurate.
• ⚠️ Close — Correct words but rhythm is off, with quick correction tips.
• ↻ Try Again — Incorrect intonation or missed words, with specific tips.

Each drill also has a 💡 Tip button — tap it for hints that don't reveal the answer (only structure, signal words, or collocations to pay attention to). Tap outside to close.

3. Other Minor Improvements

• The Listen & Repeat results page now highlights each correct/incorrect word instead of showing two text blocks — you can see where you stumbled in 1 second.
• After completing a drill, re-entering it will show a summary table with ✓/✗ marks for each question — it no longer resets to a new state like before.
• Each completed drill contributes to your daily practice goal along with Grammar, Vocabulary, Listening, and Reading.

Navigate to Roadmap → Speaking on the sidebar (or the More menu on mobile) to access it. The Beginner level is free to try, while Pro unlocks Intermediate + Advanced + the AI-scored listen & repeat feature.

I've just shipped 2 new features in Speaking Practice — both are things you've been asking for a long time.

1. Pronunciation — Cambridge English Pronunciation in Use

I've adapted the entire Cambridge series — Elementary → Intermediate → Advanced — into 170 units / 649 lessons on the app:

• Elementary (450+) — basic vowels, consonants, and stress
• Intermediate (650+) — sentence rhythm and intonation
• Advanced (750+) — connected speech and native-like pronunciation nuances

Each unit offers various exercise types: listen and repeat sentences, distinguish easily confused sound pairs, fill in missing sounds, and multiple-choice pronunciation questions. Learn effectively and retain more.

Go to Speaking Practice → Pronunciation, and choose the book that matches your level.

2. Shadowing — Speak Like a Native

260 lessons, including:

• 230 ETS 2026 lessons — with voices identical to the actual exam
• 30 hand-picked YouTube videos (interviews, short podcasts)

Click on any sentence in the transcript, and the app will jump to that point. Practice for 5-10 minutes daily to significantly improve your speaking reflexes.
