If I could design my dream home, it wouldn't be a huge mansion — it would be a fairly modest house, but in an absolutely stunning location. I picture it perched on a hillside overlooking the sea, somewhere quiet and green, but still within reach of a lively town.
It would be a light, airy place, with big windows to make the most of the view and a lot of natural wood, so it felt warm rather than showy. The one feature I'd insist on is a proper study lined with bookshelves, where I could work and read in peace. And there'd have to be a big terrace outside, ideally with a garden, for morning coffee and long dinners with friends.
I'd share it with my family, and I'd want it to be the kind of home where people always feel welcome to drop by. The reason it appeals to me so much is that it represents a sense of calm and balance I'm still working towards. I spend so much of my life staring at a screen that the idea of a peaceful, beautiful space to switch off in feels like the ultimate luxury — far more than any amount of square footage would.

What tense should I use for a dream or ideal home?
